Talaq & Divorce Lawyer in Pakistan

Legally correct Talaq for husbands, from drafting the divorce notice to Union Council registration and the final NADRA divorce certificate.

Talaq is the divorce pronounced by a husband. Under Pakistani law it is not enough to say the words, the divorce is only legally effective when the correct written procedure under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961 is followed. We make sure your Talaq is drafted, served and registered properly, so it cannot be challenged later and results in a valid NADRA divorce certificate.

What the Law Requires

When a husband pronounces Talaq, he must give written notice to the Chairman of the relevant Union Council and send a copy to the wife. The Union Council then constitutes an arbitration council and begins a 90-day reconciliation period. If the parties do not reconcile within that period, the Talaq becomes effective and the Union Council issues a Divorce Effectiveness Certificate, from which the NADRA divorce certificate is obtained.

Important

A verbal Talaq without written notice to the Union Council is legally incomplete and can be disputed. Skipping this step is the single most common reason divorces are later challenged in court. We ensure every step is documented.

When You Should Consult a Lawyer

Professional drafting matters most where there is a disputed address, an uncooperative spouse, an overseas party, children or dower involved, or where a previous verbal Talaq was never registered. Getting the documentation right the first time protects you from years of uncertainty.
